How an education center enlisted Conexus to reopen in time for the school year
Conexus provides non-proprietary building system solutions, including installation, maintenance, and service, with a strong focus on building long-term customer relationships.
Project Highlights
Client: Lebanon County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC)
Application: LCCTC building automation system
Challenge: Restrictive systems and a tight timeline
Solution: Open controllers and tailored service
Results: $135,000 of utility savings in the first year
- Distech BACnet IP controllers and Niagara N4 interface
- On-time, on budget
- Three-year hosted preventive maintenance package
The Challenge: Operational before students return
With only three months until enrollees were set to return, the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) was eager to regain control over their facility’s systems.
Located in Lebanon County, PA, the LCCTC is a state-of-the-art technical training school, with programs covering a wide range of disciplines, from health science to manufacturing to hospitality. Facility administrators required a safe and comfortable learning environment for the center’s 750 students. However, the existing building controls contractor had become complacent and was no longer meeting the customer’s expectations.
In use since 1968, the LCCTC’s equipment needed better controllers to effectively manage the center’s 162,500 sq/ft of area. The controller upgrade had to be finished—and the school’s building automation system fully operational—before students returned to classes.
Providing a Better Solution: Performance and care
Frustrated with the previous contractor’s inferior performance (and faced with a looming deadline), the education center turned to Conexus for a solution.
Conexus provided a list of references, demonstrating their expertise and commitment to quality service, and the LCCTC readily enlisted Conexus for their project.
Results & Successes: Exemplary service, completed on schedule
In less than three months, from summer to fall of 2018, Conexus completed the project on-time and on-budget. Thanks to the upgraded system, the LCCTC saved a massive $135,000 in utilities over the following year.
Installed at the LCCTC:
- Distech BACnet IP controllers
- Niagara N4 graphical interface
Impressed with the professionalism and expertise demonstrated during the project, the center’s administrators readily signed up for a three-year, hosted, preventive maintenance plan with allowance for parts & labor for repairs.
With installation complete, the LCCTC was free of legacy and proprietary systems. Facility managers were now working with a responsive controls contractor and netting significant savings through service contract costs. Thanks to the upgrade completed by Conexus, they had also gained greater control over their building’s systems.
